Are you one of those people that thinks everything happens for a reason? That everything is somehow connected?
I tend to lean in that direction. Unless things are adding up negatively…. then, I get frustrated and my faith goes out the window. And, I settle.
Let me give you the perfect example. My “Journey to the Crown” mandatory video for Mrs. International. The first videographer that I thought would be perfect to film with, fell through the cracks. I sat lost and worried as to where to start and chose to ask for recommendations via Facebook.
My mom texted me right away, “Elizabeth’s fiance is a videographer!” Elizabeth was my mom’s Bible study leader whom she adored. AMAZING, I thought!!!
Elizabeth and I had a wonderful conversation about my vision, their expertise, and we even got down to the awkward topic of budget. Everything was perfect. (Find out more about this videographer to use for your next event, wedding, advertising campaign, etc. https://m.facebook.com/RheaMediaGroup/)
I got to work immediately on my script. I had to delete segments and rewrite it multiple times to fit into a 3-minute video. Finally, the day of filming came.
I wanted a professional video that proved I was ready for the job as Mrs. International. We had a great time filming! It was tons of fun, graced by lovely conversation and learning curves.
3 weeks later, I received the first draft.
I used way too much hairspray and my hair looked crunchy. My cheeks were flushed because I was nervous. The close up camera angle I requested made me look stiff. It was awkward. It was boring. It was nothing special. (Elizabeth and Ken did exactly what I requested. Turns out, I requested all the wrong things.)
I decided to suck it up and not say a word to Elizabeth. I settled. I was so upset because my high hopes of a lovely video were ruined by my own misguided vision.
Then, it happened. It = the magical moment when you feel so foolish to have forgotten that God cares about the little things, too.
Elizabeth called to tell me there was a spot on the camera lens during filming and they could not successfully remove it from the video.
“Would you be willing to re-shoot it?”
Flabbergasted. Silence. YES!!!!!!!!!
God lined up the negative pieces to bring me the right outcome. Who would have thought that a smudge on a freshly cleaned camera lens would open the door to my story, my own beautiful story, in video form? The final video is exactly what I desired in my heart. It just took a little maneuvering on God’s part to get me out of the way.

The moral of the story is to take heart. Don’t lose faith when circumstances seem dire. God will give you the desires of your heart. Because, guess what? He loves you more than you love yourself.
Shine on, girls!
